About Kim Schott

Kim Schott is a contemporary mixed media artist based in the lakeside community of Port Dover, Ontario. Her work explores themes of renewal, resilience, and transformation through the use of natural eggshells as both material and metaphor. Each piece is created by hand painting, intentionally breaking, and carefully reassembling eggshell fragments into abstract compositions that honour imperfection and repair.

Kim’s artistic practice is informed by the philosophy of Kintsugi and by close observation of the natural world, particularly seasonal change, florals, and the shifting qualities of light along Lake Erie. The eggshell, delicate yet structurally strong, becomes a symbol of quiet endurance and cyclical growth. Through layered forms, visible seams, and restrained colour palettes, her work invites contemplation and a slower way of seeing.

After spending two decades as a business owner working alongside her husband, Kim transitioned her creative instincts into a dedicated studio practice. She now works full time from her Port Dover studio, where each piece is completed in a handcrafted solid wood frame designed to complement the artwork’s texture and tone.

Kim’s work is currently on display at Cabin 519 in Port Dover and has been included in a group exhibition at the Leslie Grove Gallery in Toronto. Her art is held in private collections, and she continues to develop new bodies of work for exhibition and public display.
